Aaron Rodgers’ last throw of his 2025-26 season was a pick-six. Some have speculated that it could be the last throw of his career. As has been the recent tradition, questions about his future are once again swirling around the quarterback in the opening moments of his offseason. However, as of the time of writing, he hasn’t announced his retirement.
Here’s a look at the situation for the Steelers quarterback and what he has decided going forward.
Aaron Rodgers Set For Big Change
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is heading elsewhere. At least, that is what one NFL insider believes. Per a Saturday post on X via Yahoo Sports, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport has reported that Rodgers has ruled out a return to Pittsburgh.
“BREAKING: QB Aaron Rodgers is not expected to return to the Steelers, per Rapsheet,” the post read.
Of course, the report didn’t include whether Rodgers’ exit was forced upon him or whether the quarterback decided on his own, a la Mike Tomlin, that he needed to step away from the team. The report also didn’t shed light on whether he was retiring, but did spell an end to his time in Pittsburgh.
Exploring Potential Aaron Rodgers Landing Spots
Heading into an age 43 season, Aaron Rodgers may not have many spots that line up with what he might want. Rodgers may wish to stick with what he knows, which could eliminate many potential destinations.
Rodgers could join Mike McCarthy wherever he ends up, assuming he and the head coach are able to bury the hatchet. The other potential landing spot that would make sense is to join Matt LaFleur if he wants out from Green Bay amid slow talks, but the odds are seemingly currently against that.
If LaFleur stays and Jordan Love instead is dealt after years of playoff struggles, Rodgers might be able to return for one more run with Green Bay as a bridge quarterback.
