Drake Maye vs Sam Darnold: Head-to-Head

    Drake Maye Stats

Maye had a breakthrough season in his sophomore NFL year, being the quarterback with the fourth-most passing yards in the league. In 2025, he threw for 4394 passing yards, with 31 touchdowns (Third in the NFL), and eight interceptions. His QBR was the best in the NFL this season, at 77.1, and his completion percentage was a very good 72%.

All those numbers are better than his numbers from his rookie season. He threw nearly double the number of yards he did last year and double the number of touchdown passes. Maye also had another strong year with regards to rushing yards, with 450 yards and four touchdowns in 103 carries.

    Sam Darnold Stats

Darnold’s stats are very similar to those of Drake Maye. He was the fifth quarterback with the most yards in the NFL this year, with 4048. He recorded 25 passing touchdowns (9th best in the NFL) and 14 interceptions. His QBR was 55.7, which is 19th in the league, and his completion percentage was 67.7%.

Statistically, this is the second-best season of his career. The best came just last year with the Minnesota Vikings, when he threw for 4319 yards, with 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. That year, his completion percentage was 66.2%.

In terms of rushing yards, he’s much more of a pocket passer than the Patriots’ signal-caller. He only recorded 95 yards that way, with no touchdowns. Again, his best season in this regard was 2024, when he had 212 rushing yards with one touchdown.

Who Has the Edge Entering Super Bowl LX?

Without a doubt, Drake Maye was the superior quarterback throughout the regular season. However, Darnold has looked poised during the postseason. Maye still had the lead on total postseason yards (533 vs. 470), but Darnold has done better in completion percentage (69.8% vs. 55.8%) and touchdown to interception ratio (4/0 vs. 4/2).

It remains important to note that Maye has one important weapon. He’s a true dual-threat quarterback, which affords New England more options on the attack. In the postseason, he has 141 rushing yards, with one touchdown, to Darnold’s nine rushing yards in the entirety of the postseason.

Regardless, they’re evenly matched, and the Seahawks greatest weapon is not their attack but their defense. The question is whether the Patriots’ offense will be able to keep up with the Seahawks, who will have an easier time scoring.
