There is a lot of drama surrounding seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and his former team, the New England Patriots. Currently, Brady is the co-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, so his being neutral should be unsurprising, but when he stated that he did not have any “dog in fight” during the Super Bowl between the Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, many fans were outraged.
Brady won six of his seven Super Bowl rings with the Patriots, and they even erected a statue of him at Foxborough. His announcement of staying neutral had many fans betrayed, and the drama only escalated when he unfollowed the team he won six Super Bowls with on Instagram, while still following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Las Vegas Raiders.
The unfollowing had many of his former teammates slam him on various sports shows and on social media, and fans flooded him with comments that were unsavory to say the least. Soon enough, Tom Brady backed down and re-followed the Patriots after all that backlash. Some fans also hit the Patriots legend:
“Nothing will ever make me dislike tom he’s the goat and one of my favorites but he’s acting like a divorced ex” said one fan.
“Being almost 50 and unfollowing to make a point 🫠” another fan said.
“Tb12 gonna be even more of a handful when Drake gets this ring.” said another fan
“He probably got jealous Drake Maye getting the old Brady treatment 😂.” said another fan
“I believe he’s working future moves for his Raiders team . Why else would he be distancing himself ..” said another fan
“They did him dirty on his way out … idk why everyone is so surprised … their divorce was public for everyone to see 🤷🏻♂️ ..” said another fan
After he re-followed the team he won six championships with, Brady then posted a photo of himself with Patriots team owner Robert Kraft and encouraged his former boss to go and win that seventh Super Bowl title for the team. While this gesture cooled things down, many fans were still disheartened by his perceived betrayal of him unfollowing his old team.

Brady also tried to make amends with his former team after the NFL Honors, where two of his former Patriots teammates won major awards. One of them is New England head coach Mike Vrabel, who won Coach of the Year, and the other is Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who won the AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year.
Both of them were former Brady teammates, and Tom Brady himself posted congratulations on his Instagram Stories. Both stories have now expired.
“Incredible accomplishment Josh! My brother! Nobody works harder or is more committed than you! I’m so proud of you love you so much!!❤️💪🏻” Brady said.
“Congratulations Mike! A great teammate, coach and friend! Hard earned and well deserved! Love you!!! LFGGGGG!!!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻” Brady added regarding mike Vrabel.
While it is true that Brady did unfollow the Patriots, he is actually trying to patch things up. Whether Patriots fans forgive him or not is another story.
