Boomer Esiason was another in a sea of critics responding to the viral Abdul Carter-Jaxson Dart situation in New York. Dart’s appearance with Donald Trump rubbed Carter the wrong way and the pass rusher posted about it on social media, sparking an aftershock of criticism from many, including Esiason.
However, in a follow-up set of comments from the former Jets quarterback on WFAN in a video post on X on Thursday, Esiason changed his tune, expressing apparent relief that the disagreement was handled what he perceived to be the correct way behind closed doors.
“I’m glad they all sat down, spoke about it and said ‘keep it internal boys, do not put it on social media’ because that is my issue,” Esiason said. “My 100% issue with Abdul Carter is he put it out there on social media and now these guys are handling it like men inside the locker room.”
With the issue seemingly settled, Esiason, Carter and Dart can go back to focusing on making sure John Harbaugh’s first year in the NFC East is a good one. However, Esiason, mentioned one caveat to his comments.
Boomer Esiason Mentions Caveat Foreshadowing Additional Abdul Carter Problems
While he largely applauded New York for quickly handling the situation brewing in its locker room, he opened the door to more potential problems later down the line.
“I bet you in the long run, believe it or not — if they win — it will bring them closer together,” Esiason said. “If they lose, then that could still end up being a problem, but at the end of the day, football players only care about one thing and that’s winning football games and getting the contracts they think they deserve.”
Of course, this is the case in any football organization. Winning solves most issues and losing creates the most issues. With the seed of disagreement already planted, losing could be the water that causes the disagreement to return bigger and stronger than ever.
In other words, Dart and Carter didn’t remove the seed, but merely buried it deeper in the eyes of Esiason.
