“Who the Hell They Trading Me For?”: Anthony Davis Breaks Down Disbelief Over Titanic Luka Doncic Deal in Honest Admission

The Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic 2025 swap was one of the most shocking trades in the league, surprising everyone, from fans to the players involved. The Slovenian was considered the face of the Dallas Mavericks, and Davis was the protagonist of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2020 championship story. In a recent conversation, the now Washington Wizards forward opened up about his feelings when he came to know the team’s decision.

Davis featured in the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, where he talked about the night and what went on behind the scenes of one of the most unexpected trades in the NBA. It all started with a call from Rich Paul, who informed the 6-foot-10 forward about the update. Davis said:

“Rich Paul called me on the phone and was like they just traded you to Dallas. I’m like, shut up. But like, I know because I spoke to Rich before like, man. Luka is so cold bro, we used to talk about Luka all the time. Be like imagine me with Luka, like oh my god. At the time I wasn’t sure what Bron was going to do, if he was going to play or retire. I wasn’t even thinking about being traded or asking to leave.”

Interestingly, the high-profile NBA agent often talked about Davis pairing up with Doncic and seemed excited to play with the elite guard. He added:

“And so when he said traded to Dallas, I was like get the fu*k out of here. And I said who the fu*k they going to trade me for Luka n****? Who else can you trade me for on that team? Mind you they just went to the finals. And there was never no discussion we might get AD out of here or it was nothing. He was like, they traded you for Luka. I’m like, Rich shut the hell up. I’m really thinking he just playing. And he was like, man I swear.”

Seemingly, Davis was also caught off guard by the news. Moreover, his time in the league after that trade has been far from smooth. He has battled injuries for the majority of the time and was again traded by the Mavs to the Wizards during the 2026 midseason trade timeline. He is still nursing a hand injury and played just 20 games this season.

Wizards HC updates fans on Anthony Davis’ availability

After the Wizards lost to the Chicago Bulls, 98-129, head coach Brian Keefe gave a damning update about Anthony Davis and Trae Young’s availability this season. Young has played five games for the Wizards, but Davis has yet to don new colors on the court. And it seems fans would have to wait further to see him in action.

While fans are excited at the prospect of Anthony Davis pairing up with Trae Young, there have been several conversations about the forward’s injury management. Meanwhile, even though he could not pair up with Doncic, Young is as versatile and as talented when he is healthy and comfortable.
