Warriors forward Moses Moody suffered a gruesome injury on Monday in overtime against the Mavericks. Moody attempted to go for the dunk to close the game with a minute left, as it would have given Golden State a seven-point lead. However, his left knee blew up as soon as he took off, and Moody took a hard fall.
He went down clutching at his left leg and had to be stretchered off the floor. Here’s the video:
Moody’s setback adds to the Warriors’ woes, who already saw Jimmy Butler’s season end in January after he tore his ACL. Meanwhile, Steph Curry is also dealing with a lingering right knee issue since February and remains out, with no timetable.
Moody has been one of their best scoring options since Curry’s injury, so this issue will impact the Warriors in more ways than one. On Monday, he had 23 points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks as the Warriors erased a 15-point lead to win 137-131 in overtime.
Footage shows bone popping out of Moses Moody’s left knee after injury
Footage emerged on the broadcast, which showed the injured state of Moses Moody’s knee. In that clip, a bone popped out of Moody’s leg, which shows a potential knee or patellar dislocation.
Steve Kerr said Moses Moody was getting X-Rays done, but the injury doesn’t look good. If it’s a knee or patellar dislocation, it could take more than a year for Moody to return to the NBA level.
Moody, 23, is under contract for two more years with the Warriors after this season. Given the available footage, it seems he could return earliest in the 2027-28 season.
