Warriors Brass, Steve Kerr, Draymond Green Seemingly Scout Arkansas-Arizona Prospects Amid Potential Lottery Bound Season

The Golden State Warriors’ 2025-26 season took an unexpected turn after injuries to Jimmy Butler and Steph Curry. Since then, the team has struggled badly, stumbling down the standings and now sitting 10th in the East with a 35-38 record. While they have managed to secure a spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament, there is still a real chance they could end up as a lottery team.

With many analysts doubting their chances of making the playoffs, several outlets are projecting the Warriors to land a draft pick somewhere between 7th and 10th. That makes their recent scouting activity especially interesting.

The Warriors were spotted at the Sweet 16 matchup between Arkansas and Arizona during March Madness, likely keeping an eye on potential draft targets. Team owner and the GM were present at the SAP Center in San Jose on Thursday, along with head coach Steve Kerr and players like Draymond Green, LJ Cryer, and Brandin Podziemski, also in the bleachers.

Among the prospects they seemed to be scouting were Arizona freshmen Brayden Burries and Koa Peat, as well as Arkansas freshman point guard Darius Acuff Jr.

All three had impressive performances. Acuff Jr. led all scorers with 28 points, though he could not stop Arkansas from falling 109-88. On the Arizona side, Peat delivered 21 points on an efficient 8-11 shooting, while Burries added 23 points and five rebounds.

The #1 Arizona Wildcats now set up an Elite Eight clash against the #2 Purdue Boilermakers, scheduled for Saturday night.

Golden State Warriors secure first back-to-back wins in over two months

The Golden State Warriors have had a rough stretch lately, with wins being hard to come by. Since the All-Star break concluded, they’ve gone just 6-12, with some particularly humiliating losses against teams like the Utah Jazz and the New Orleans Pelicans.

However, Dub Nation finally has something to feel good about. The team picked up back-to-back wins in their last two games, beating the Dallas Mavericks on Monday and the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. The victories, a 137-131 overtime thriller and a 109-106 nail-biter, marked their first consecutive wins since their four-game streak from Jan. 13 to Jan. 19.

Even with that small boost, they’re still under .500 at 35-38. They sit 1.5 games behind the #9 Portland Trail Blazers and two games back of the #8 LA Clippers.
