Warriors’ Steve Kerr Seemingly Gets Hot After Bay Area Radio Host Congratulates Him on Locking Play-in Tournament Spot

This season has been one of the toughest ones that Steve Kerr has had at the helm of the Golden State Warriors. It’s not wise, then, to throw caution to the wind when commenting on Kerr’s 2025-26 campaign.

Bay Area radio host Matt Steinmetz had to learn this the hard way when Kerr appeared on his “Steiny and Guru” show this week. Steiny might have intended no harm with his comments, but the multi-titled coach took exception to a certain line.

“By the way, congratulations no doubt on clinching the play-in…I meant, on the 600…” Steiny said, appearing to crack a joke.

“Don’t do that. Don’t do that,” Kerr said, shaking his head.

The look on Steve Kerr’s face went from amiable to disappointed in a hurry. Despite Steiny’s acknowledgment of Kerr’s 600th regular season win, becoming the fourth-fastest NBA head coach to reach this milestone, the damage had been done.

Indeed, damaged goods would be an apt way to describe the Warriors’ 2025-26 season. Steph Curry has been riddled with injuries, Draymond Green’s relationship with Kerr has taken some major hits, and other players have been plagued by the injury bug as well.

This week, Steve Kerr has had to watch Moses Moody suffer a gruesome knee injury that has been confirmed to keep him out for the rest of the season. Though the Warriors might indeed be bound for the play-in tournament, this placement in the Western Conference standings is a far cry from the glory days that Kerr has enjoyed in Golden State over the past 10 years.

Steve Kerr Gives Update on Moses Moody’s Situation Following Gruesome Knee Injury

“Steiny and Guru” wasn’t the only radio show that Steve Kerr appeared on this week. Stopping by “Willard and Dibs,” Kerr gave an update on Moody’s situation.

“The MRI was clean. It’s the [patellar] tendon. No damage to cartilage or bone, so that’s the good news. That allows it to be a pretty basic surgery.”

This silver lining, no matter how slim it is, can give Warriors fans even a spark of hope as they look ahead to the coming months.
