Athletes and energy drinks have a long-standing relationship, and Karl-Anthony Towns just reinstated that with his affirmative reaction to a Gatorade flavor. The energy drink manufacturer launched its Glacier Freeze/Cherry Mashup flavor in August 2025. However, it seems it has found its users in the NBA world as well.
The new edition was seen kept beside players at the press conferences. Earlier, Anthony Edwards also had a sip and seemed visibly impressed by the taste. Recently, Jalen Brunson and KAT were seen in a press session. While the New York Knicks guard answered the questions, Towns picked up the bottle and took a sip. He also seemed happy with the taste.
A user shared the video on X and wrote:
“KAT enjoyed the same Gatorade too lmao”
However, fans noticed a pattern in the events and commented on their opinions. One wrote:
“Trying to hard to go viral”
Another user was convinced that it was a planned gig by the brand nd wrote:
“You can just tell this corny ass nigga got told to do this by Gatorade”
One more user was skeptical and wrote:
“How much did they pay them to do that for a new flavor?”
One more user wrote:
“Guys, do these two happen to be Gatorade athletes?”
Another user took a dig at the expression and wrote:
“Fake as hell tears good advertising tho”

The newly launched product is an electrolyte that replenishes lost energy, especially for athletes. It’s labeled as a thirst quencher on e-commerce platforms.
Amid Karl-Anthony Towns’ support, Gatorade plans to rebrand
The energy drink manufacturers are trying to reposition themselves in the market and focus on non-athlete users with new packaging and updated drinks. The new rebranding will focus on Gatorade Advanced Hydration System, a portfolio structure meant to help consumers identify whether a product hydrates better, faster, or longer than water, as per the website.
The NBA also moves to a high-pressure postseason, and the Knicks will be set to come out as contenders in the final phase of the season. Only time will tell if that happens over time.
