Toronto Raptors vs Denver Nuggets Preview and Prediction
The Toronto Raptors are riding a strong three-game run, picking up wins against tough opponents like the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons, going 2-0 during their homestand. Further, they carried that momentum onto the road with a dominant 139-109 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. That stretch has pushed their record to 39-29, putting them fifth in the Eastern Conference.
The Denver Nuggets, meanwhile, have not quite looked like themselves lately. For a team with championship expectations, a 5-5 record in March feels underwhelming. Their recent 125-118 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday was especially shocking.
The first meeting between these two teams came on Dec. 31 at Scotiabank Arena. Denver was missing several key players, including Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Christian Braun, and Cameron Johnson. Even with those absences, Jamal Murray and Peyton Watson stepped up in a big way, combining for 45 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Nuggets to a 106-103 win over a fully healthy Raptors squad.
This time, Denver is expected to have all those players back, which gives them a clear edge heading into the rematch. However, the Raptors have been playing with confidence and energy, so this should be a competitive game.
Prediction: Expect the Nuggets to win by 5 points.
