As rumors of Steve Kerr’s departure from Golden State start to pick up steam, the Warriors organization has reportedly given strong consideration to Florida Gators head coach Todd Golden. However, Golden’s controversial past has resurfaced, and it might eventually factor into the Warriors’ decision-making this offseason.
Back in September 2024, Golden faced accusations of sexual harassment and stalking. As per Title IX documents obtained by The Independent Florida Alligator, multiple women alleged that Golden had violated the University of Florida Gender Equity Policy.
In January 2025, the university reported that it had completed a four-month investigation, which was said to have “found no evidence” that Golden violated Title IX.
Despite this, fans have engaged in vigorous debate on whether Golden should be in consideration to succeed Kerr in Golden State.

Just a few months after UF closed its investigation on Todd Golden, he led the Gators to a national championship win that capped off a 36-4 record. Golden certainly has the credentials, but he also has some red flags in his college career. Aside from his coaching acumen, Todd Golden may have another edge that could eventually land him the Warriors head coaching job. That edge is reportedly his “relationship” with the Lacob family. Joe Lacob, of course, is the principal owner and CEO of the Warriors.
It’s also worth noting that Golden spent three years as a coach for the University of San Francisco, which is 20 minutes away from the Warriors executive office.
