The 2026 NBA draft is just around the corner, and there hasn’t been any movement in the league, including the potential high-intensity Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. However, fans believed that it might go through earlier than expected. Several fans expressed their thoughts before the final verdict on the two-time NBA MVP goes down.
Fan account Heat Nation shared a short post on X, expressing anxiety over the quietness in the trade market:
“Chat, I’m scared.’
In response, a fan believed that the big news in relation to Giannis’ movement would be announced Sunday:
“Today’s the day. Seems like they have Miamis offer in the back pocket and if no other team comes in with a mega offer, they’ll take it today. They probably gave everyone 24 hours for final bids I assume.”
One more fan speculated that a major trade might be announced on draft day, including the high-profile Giannis move:
“That’s because what’s about to happen on draft day will be explosive! The calm before the storm is real, Giannis and more will be traded on draft day”
Another fan highlighted that an update on the Giannis trade might come soon:
“Apparently, that Giannis trade is about to happen sooner than we think”
One more user suggested that the day of the big trade was here:
“I wonder if the Giannis trade happens today. I would assume it happens prior to the draft for obvious reasons, which will then allow many moving parts around the NBA to be freed up, which brings the Lakers into the big picture.”
Several teams, including the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics, have expressed interest in acquiring the 2021 NBA champion. However, the trade has yet to happen.
Teams negotiate Giannis Antetokounmpo’s value in the trade
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s value has been the biggest question in front of teams right now. The Bucks are reportedly asking a hefty price for the Greek Freak, and that might leave any team too short-handed to contend for the title.
According to NBA insider Evan Sider on X, the Miami Heat, who are the front-runners to land the superstar, have set an upper limit on their package:
“The most the Heat are currently willing to offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo:

Future 1st”
Though that already looks like a big ask for the Heat and includes almost the entire core of the team, the Bucks are reportedly not convinced and are asking for more pieces to be added to the mix before draft day.
