Timberwolves Trade Rumors: Anthony Edwards-led Team’s Package For $12.9M PG Includes Mike Conley and 2nd Round Picks

According to NBA insider Jake Weinbach, the Minnesota Timberwolves have made an offer to the Chicago Bulls in their pursuit of the team’s guard, Coby White.

The reported offer is centered around Mike Conley, Terrence Shannon Jr. and draft compensation.

The Timberwolves, who have reached the Western Conference finals the past two seasons, have been in search of a new point guard as they look to take the next step.

Because of Mike Conley’s decline over the past couple of seasons, Minnesota’s need for a starting point guard has only grown.

Coby White, 25, could be a solid replacement that Minnesota can readily fit into its starting lineup. He has been the Bulls’ starting guard over the last three seasons, averaging 19.6 points, 4.8 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.

If White can replicate the same output in Minnesota, the team could be able to make the leap they’ve been seeking since the 2023-24 season. The Timberwolves’ only concern regarding this trade could be White’s contract.

The Bulls guard is in the final year of a three-year, $36 million deal and will become a free agent after the 2025-26 season. The team will need to be wary of the possibility of signing White only to lose him in free agency this summer.

The Minnesota Timberwolves might have to give up better draft compensation for Coby White

The Minnesota Timberwolves are willing to give up two second-round draft picks in exchange for Coby White. But that might not be enough for the Chicago Bulls.

According to another report from Jake Weinbach, the Bulls are looking for an unprotected first-round pick for their star guard.

Minnesota doesn’t have first-round draft picks for 2026 and 2027, and it has yet to be seen if the team is willing to move its 2028 first-round pick.

Coby White posted career-highs in points and shooting splits last season, averaging 20.4 ppg, 4.5 apg and 3.5 rpg, shooting 45.3%, including 37% from 3-point range. He was a borderline All-Star that season, with fans arguing that he was snubbed from the team.

This could be quite a favorable trade for the Timberwolves if they can get a player with White’s upside for Conley, Shannon Jr. and second-round draft picks.
