Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards showed support and pledged his loyalty to the city on Sunday.
Alex Pretti, an intensive care nurse, was killed in a shooting involving ICE, according to reports. The incident prompted Edwards’ message to fans.
While speaking to the media on Sunday, Edwards addressed the situation, extending his support and prayers to everyone dealing with Saturday’s unfortunate incident.
“I just love Minnesota, all the love and support that they show me,” Edwards said. “So I’m behind whatever they with. I don’t really have social media, so I’m not in tune with everything. But I’ve heard about the stuff that’s going on. Me and my family definitely praying for everybody.”
Anthony Edwards has been one of Minnesota’s most exciting players this past decade, leading the team to back-to-back conference finals appearances in 2024 and 2025.
He was drafted with the No. 1 pick in 2020 and has grown into one of the best players in the league in Minnesota. Edwards has played 418 games for the team, averaging 24.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
He is having his best season yet in 2025-26, averaging 29.7 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 3.6 apg, shooting 49.9%, including 41.0% from 3-point range.
Anthony Edwards suggests the Timberwolves are lacking effort following a blowout loss against the Warriors
The Jimmy Butler-less Golden State Warriors blew out the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, handing the team a 111-85 loss. Speaking after the game, Anthony Edwards refused to make excuses for the loss, alleging that the Timberwolves lacked effort.
“We’re supposed to come out here and play hard,” Edwards said. “I don’t think we can make an excuse because we’re tired. Everybody tired, everybody ready to go to the break. But we’re just getting outplayed on the effort part. So we gotta bring it on that side, for sure.”
Edwards put on a solid display against Golden State, finishing with 32 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 13-for-20. Meanwhile, Steph Curry led the charge for the Dubs, finishing with a team-high 26 points and seven assists.
Edwards and Co. have lost five games in a row and are 4-6 in their last 10 matchups. After Sunday’s loss, the team is seventh in the Western Conference with a 27-19 record.
