Steph Curry Sends Clear Message to Warriors Front Office About Steve Kerr’s Future

Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry weighed in on coach Steve Kerr’s future with the team. The Warriors’ season ended on Friday after they lost their play-in tournament game against the Phoenix Suns.

It was a difficult game for the Warriors, as Curry finished with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists, shooting 4-for-16. Draymond Green recorded five points and six assists.

This could potentially be the last game of Kerr’s tenure with the Warriors, as his deal expired at the end of the season and he has yet to sign an extension. After the game, Curry spoke to the media about Kerr’s future.

“I want Coach to be happy. I want him to be excited about the job. I want him to believe you know he’s the right guy for the job,” Curry said. “I want him to have an opportunity to enjoy what he does. So, whatever that means for him, you know, everybody’s plan is their own. And I’m not going to try to tell anybody what to do. He knows how I feel about him. That shouldn’t even need to be said.”

The 2025-26 season marked Kerr’s 12th campaign with the Warriors. Out of those 12 seasons, Golden State has made the NBA Finals in six, winning four championships. This season, the Warriors finished 10th in the Western Conference with a 37-45 record.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr shares emotional moment with Steph Curry, Draymond Green

After the conclusion of Friday’s game against the Phoenix Suns, Warriors coach Steve Kerr, Draymond Green and Steph Curry embraced on the sidelines, sharing an emotional moment.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen next, but I love you guys to death. Thank you. I appreciate you,” Kerr said to Curry and Green.

Speaking to the media post-game, Kerr touched on what’s next for him after the 2025-26 season.

“We’ve always had a great partnership and collaboration,” he said. “We’ll just see where they are, and I’ll tell them where I am, and we’ll talk about what’s next for the Warriors, what the plan is this offseason. Then we’ll come to a collaborative decision.”

Kerr led the team to a 678-290 regular-season record over the last 12 seasons. Whether he returns for a 13th season is likely to be determined in the coming weeks.
