Spurs Injury Report: Will De’Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper Play in Game 3 of WCF vs Thunder?

The San Antonio Spurs battled through their share of injuries throughout the postseason, and they took another hit Wednesday in Game 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder when Dylan Harper exited after an awkward landing in the third quarter. The Spurs also didn’t have De’Aaron Fox available due to a high ankle sprain. Now, both players are in danger of missing the crucial Game 3 clash as the series shifts to Frost Bank Center on Friday.

The Spurs got off to the perfect start in the Western Conference Finals, beating Oklahoma City 122-115 in Game 1 of the series. However, the Thunder stole home-court advantage back in Game 2 with a 122-113 win Wednesday night to even the series.

Dylan Harper has been a huge piece of the team this postseason, showing maturity beyond his years while remaining composed under pressure. The rookie guard has provided the Spurs with a strong spark off the bench, averaging 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting an impressive 88.6% from the field.

With several players in top form and strong chemistry throughout the roster, led by Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio’s championship push shows no signs of slowing down.

Fox, on the other hand, has been dealing with a high ankle sprain that disrupted what had been a fantastic postseason run for him in San Antonio. He was averaging 18.8 points and 5.8 assists while shooting 73.3% from the field before suffering the injury in the series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Since then, he has yet to suit up in the Thunder series.

Fox was listed as questionable for both Game 1 and Game 2 but was eventually ruled out each time. He did go through pregame warmups ahead of Game 2 before ultimately being sidelined again. Getting Fox back would be a major boost for San Antonio, especially with Harper’s status now uncertain, leaving Stephon Castle as the team’s lone primary ball handler.

However, Castle has also struggled offensively, recording 20 turnovers over the last two games, the most by any player in a two-game span in the league’s postseason history.

Both Dylan Harper and De’Aaron Fox are listed as questionable for the Game 3 contest and are expected to undergo late fitness tests before final decisions are made on their availability.

We’re not counting out the Spurs by any means. They have the depth, skill, adjustments, and resilience to be the Thunder’s toughest opponent of the current postseason, and we expect nothing short of a terrific battle from San Antonio as they look to win Game 3 and take control of the series.
