Taylor Rooks, who is on the broadcast team for NBA on Prime, reacted with visible excitement after the Atlanta Hawks defeated the New York Knicks on Thursday to take a 2-1 lead in their first-round playoff series.
The game came down to the wire with the Knicks having possession as the Hawks held a 109-108 lead with less than 10 seconds to go. New York committed a turnover, which led to Atlanta dribbling out the clock to ice the game. After the Hawks won, a clip of Rooks jumping across the NBA on Prime studio with excitement was shared on X.
“I’m unbiased but uhhh, Gwinnett County, we up,” Rooks said while celebrating the Hawks’ win.
Fans reacted to the clip, with some suggesting Rooks favored the Hawks; some even claimed that the journalist “detests” New York. Here are the most notable reactions on X:
“She detests the Knicks just like papi detest da Yankees,” one fan said.
“GWINNETTTT?????????? with all due respect Taylor…. Gwinnett has ZERO correlation to the Hawks,” another fan said.
“Everybody wanna see the knicks fail like this don’t light a fire under this team a** bro smh,” one fan wrote.
“Give me my MSG broadcast for the playoffs, like why do we have to watch this instead,” another fan wrote.
“Unprofessional. Gonna be great once this series turns,” a fan commented.
Jalen Brunson keeps it short while addressing the Knicks’ Game 3 loss to the Hawks
Jalen Brunson recorded 26 points, three rebounds and four assists in Game 3, shooting 11-for-23 in the loss. After the game, Brunson spoke to the media and gave brief answers when asked to evaluate the Knicks’ performance through the first three games.
“Not good enough,” Brunson said.
When asked where the team could improve, the star guard simply said:
“Everything.”
Brunson has led the charge for the team through the first three games, averaging 27.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg and 6.0 apg. The Knicks have struggled to contain the Hawks’ CJ McCollum, who is recording 27.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 2.7 apg.
New York will look to fight its way back into the series when it returns to action for Game 4 on Saturday.
