The Spurs got off to a great start in this series, pulling off a 111-98 victory in Game 1. In his playoff debut, Victor Wembanyama put up 35 points on 13-for-21 shooting from the field, along with five rebounds, one assist, and two blocks. The Spurs waxed hot from beyond the arc in Game 1, converting on 45.5% of their three-point attempts while limiting the Blazers to 26.3% from deep.
The Blazers, who had to go through the play-in tournament, scored a sizable upset by defeating the Spurs 106-103 in Game 2. With Wembanyama suffering a nasty fall that landed him in the concussion protocol, the Blazers capitalized, winning the battle on the offensive glass and outscoring the Spurs in the paint. Scoot Henderson came up big in this game with 31 points.

Victor Wembanyama has been ruled as day-to-day as he remains in the concussion protocol. The same status has been assigned to Jordan McLaughlin, who is dealing with ankle issues.
On the Blazers’ side, Damian Lillard has been ruled out for the season due to his Achilles injury, though there has been talk recently about the possibility that he’ll suit up for the playoffs.
