Report: Steph Curry Plans to Meet With LeBron James Amidst Rumors of 4x NBA Champion Signing With Warriors

Fresh off the news of signing a massive shoe endorsement deal, Steph Curry is once again making headlines this offseason. This time, an NBA insider is reporting that Curry will soon be meeting with his fellow four-time NBA champion, perhaps to set up a blockbuster team-up in Golden State.

According to Brett Siegel, Curry plans to talk to LeBron James in the hopes of convincing him to join the Warriors this season. Siegel added that the team is “very much open to pursuing” the Lakers superstar and that there are now “some legs” to the Warriors’ recruitment efforts.

What the Warriors are pursuing is nothing short of a dream pairing. Not too long ago, Curry and James clashed in four consecutive Finals appearances, back when the King was in his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Curry and his Warriors squad won three out of those four matchups on the grandest stage.

Curry and James have been fierce rivals in the NBA, but outside this setting, they have struck up a friendship rooted in respect and admiration. When Team USA looked to claim another gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Curry and James played spectacularly alongside each other, helping to turn back a fearsome French squad in the deciding matchup.

If the Warriors succeed in this offseason hunt, the two all-time greats could have a chance to close out their respective careers with more championship gold.

For what it’s worth, a member of the Warriors’ coaching staff has acknowledged that LeBron James’ arrival would be a welcome addition to the team, given that Curry’s championship window is closing.

Appearing on “Run It Back” this week, assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse admitted that Curry’s days as a primary scoring option are mostly behind him.

“I know it sounds crazy to think of Steph Curry as a secondary player, but he will be 39 this year and Father Time is undefeated…Jimmy’s not gonna be a part of the picture.”

Stackhouse added that it was a “heartfelt moment” when Curry hugged Draymond Green and coach Steve Kerr as the Warriors stood on the verge of elimination in the play-in tournament.
