Philadelphia 76ers vs Boston Celtics Preview and Prediction
The Philadelphia 76ers began their first-round series against the Boston Celtics with a rough 123-91 loss. With the magnitude of the defeat and the absence of Joel Embiid, many expected Boston to cruise to a sweep.
Things briefly shifted in Game 2. VJ Edgecombe stepped up in a big way, putting up 30 points and 10 rebounds on Apr. 21 to help the Philadelphia 76ers even the series at 1-1 with a 111-97 win.
Since then, it has been all Boston. The Celtics took control in Game 3 and Game 4, winning 108-100 and 128-96. During those games in Philadelphia, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the way, combining for an average of 50 points, 13 rebounds, and 11.5 assists per game.
There was at least one encouraging sign for the Sixers. Embiid returned in the latest game and finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. His presence should make the next matchup more competitive, but Boston still looks like the stronger team with more scoring options across the roster.
Prediction: Expect the Celtics to win by 7 points.
