Golden State Warriors fans called out the franchise for not making important decisions to maximize Steph Curry’s twilight years. The management has been looking to bolster its frontcourt since the midseason trade period in February, but there has not been any progress. Now, it seems even the superstar isn’t happy with the front office after LeBron James decided to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers.
King James will be playing in Philly next season, alongside a star-studded lineup on just around a $4 million salary. The Warriors were also one of the top contenders to land the four-time NBA MVP, but the front office couldn’t seem to convince the superstar that they would be in the fight for the title.
That has resulted in some dissatisfaction on Curry’s part, as explained by Marcus Thompson II on the “Murph & Marcus Podcast” on Friday:
“I think he’s probably tired of the star chasing.”
The Warriors have required some efficient shooting options around Curry who can help get the game going for a long time now. The gap was instantly exposed last season after Jimmy Butler suffered a season-ending injury.
Earlier, the front office also looked to acquire Rui Hachimura, who eventually signed with the LA Clippers, and Anfernee Simons, whom the Warriors also lost to the 76ers. Curry is the franchise’s only hope for a playoff run till now.
Steph Curry addresses the LeBron James trade
After the NBA world finally got to know the final destination James would be heading to next season, there was a lot of talk about how the four-time NBA champion could add to the team. Meanwhile, media persons asked Steph Curry’s thoughts on the big trade and his feelings after the Warriors failed to land the forward.
Curry said at Moses Moody’s youth golf camp on Saturday, via The Athletic:
“That’s why you don’t envision anything until it happens. There’s a lot of moving parts.”
Further, Chef Curry also didn’t seem very hopeful about the team making any more changes and painted a grim picture with Moody and Butler’s injuries. He added:
“”How do you get through their absence and still stay at a certain level? And then how that goes into this year? It’s the same deal. So I’m a realist on that.”
The Warriors re-signed Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford in the offseason, who will add to the perimeter shooting and overall size, but Curry still needs someone for a pick-and-roll partner.
