Thanks to Kon Knueppel and LaMelo Ball, the future of the Charlotte Hornets looks brighter than ever. During the Hornets’ final regular season game on Sunday, Knueppel and Ball pulled off a feat that hadn’t been done since the heyday of an iconic backcourt duo.
To be specific, Knueppel and Ball became the first pair of teammates to log 270+ three-pointers each since Steph Curry and Klay Thompson did it in Golden State.
Earning a comparison to the Splash Brothers is no easy feat, and on social media, fans showered Kon Knueppel and LaMelo Ball with praise.

Even more interesting, Kon Knueppel edged out LaMelo Ball by just one made three to claim the three-point shooting title in the 2025-26 regular season. Knueppel had 273 made threes to Ball’s 272.
The impressive shooting of both Knueppel and Ball will be highly counted on when the Hornets compete in the play-in tournament later this week.

For what it’s worth, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd weighed in on the significance of Kon Knueppel’s proficiency from beyond the arc. On a recent episode of “The Road Trippin Show,” Kidd built a Rookie of the Year case for his own star player Cooper Flagg and made an interesting comment on Knueppel’s three-point proficiency.
“I truly believe that he [Flagg] deserves Rookie of the Year. That’s not throwing shade at Knueppel, he’s had a great year too. But just the things, the stats, the names he is attached to. It’s a little bit bigger than just shooting threes.”
It will be interesting to see how the ROTY vote goes, as Flagg and Knueppel would both make excellent choices for this award.
