Minnesota Timberwolves Injury Report: Massive Anthony Edwards Update, Ayo Dosunmu’s Return News For Game 1 (May 4)

The Minnesota Timberwolves submitted a surprising injury report ahead of their Western Conference semifinal showdown against the San Antonio Spurs. Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable after missing the last two games of the Timberwolves’ first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.

The All-Star Game MVP suffered a left knee bone bruise in the third quarter of Game 4 against the Nuggets. Edwards was expected to be out for multiple weeks. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Timberwolves targeted Game 3 or 4 for Edwards’ return. However, he could return as early as Monday if he clears tests before the game.

Edwards hasn’t practiced with the team, but he’s cleared to return to on-court basketball activities. Timberwolves vice president of medical performance, David Hines, shared that Edwards could return sooner than the two-to-three week timeline initially reported if he hits all his metrics for pain management, mobility and functional strength.

Before injuring his left knee, Edwards had managed a right knee injury in the first four games. The Timberwolves listed him as questionable during the Nuggets series.

Meanwhile, Ayo Dosunmu, who missed Game 6 against the Nuggets due to right calf soreness, is questionable. He was questionable for that contest, too, before eventually being downgraded to out. Dosunmu is the Timebrwolves’ leading scorer in the playoffs, averaging 21.8 points per game. His performances were key to Minnesota turning the series around after its Game 1 loss.

Donte DiVincenzo remains the only confirmed absentee on the Minnesota Timberwolves’ injury report. DiVincenzo suffered a right Achilles injury in Game 4 against the Nuggets and is out for the playoffs.
