Michael Porter Jr. posed a question to his Instagram followers on Thursday, asking his fans for their thoughts on former NBA guard Jaden Ivey’s situation. Ivey was waived by the Chicago Bulls on Monday for conduct “detrimental to the team.”
Leading up to his exit from Chicago, Ivey had gone on a religious rant on social media and made anti-LGBTQ comments. On Thursday, Porter shared a story on Instagram asking fans to chip in with their thoughts.
“What’s y’all’s thoughts on the Jaden Ivey situation?” Porter asked.

Ivey did another live session on social media after being waived and accused the Bulls of lying about their reasons for letting him go.
“They’re liars, bro. This is lying,” Ivey said. “They’re lying, saying my conduct is detrimental to the team. That’s a lie. Ask any one of them coaches in there, ‘Was I a good teammate?’ All I’m preaching about is Jesus Christ and they waived me. They say I’m crazy, right? I’m psycho.”
The Chicago Bulls acquired Ivey from the Detroit Pistons ahead of this season’s Feb. 5 deadline. He only managed four appearances for the team before he was let go.
Michael Porter Jr. is not a stranger to controversy and got a lot of attention this summer for his comments on various podcasts. Porter’s views were getting enough attention that the Brooklyn Nets reportedly warned the forward to steer clear of certain subjects.
Porter Jr. is averaging career highs with the Nets, recording 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, shooting 46.3%.
Michael Porter Jr.’s ex-girlfriend claims the NBA forward is a psychopath
Jaden Ivey is not the only NBA player who has been criticized, with fans claiming that he is mentally sick. Michael Porter Jr’s ex-girlfriend, Madison Pettis, also referred to the NBA forward in a similar manner during an appearance on “In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele.”
“I mean, my ex is now in the NBA. When we dated, he was in high school and college,” Pettis said. “I broke up with him before he was in the league because he was a psychopath.”
Porter Jr. has yet to publicly acknowledge Pettis’ claims. He will return to action on Friday when the Nets take on the Atlanta Hawks.
