Michael Jordan Shows His True Colors with Brutally Honest Verdict on Ever-Changing GOAT Debate

Michael Jordan was recently featured in an interview with TV personality Gayle King and shared his feelings about the ongoing GOAT debate. Even though the 6-time NBA champion hung up his sneakers a long time ago, he is regularly featured in such conversations on social media. However, he clarified his stance on the barber-shop discussions about the greatest in the sport.

While the Chicago Bulls legend is seldom seen in interviews, he candidly spoke about his true feelings in a conversation with Gayle King on CBS’s Sunday Morning. When asked about his stance on the GOAT debate and whether there could be more than one great in the sport, he responded:

“There’s no such thing as GOAT, you know, to me, it’s only because I think we’re transcended from other people, other athletes. We learn from other athletes, we progress the game as we move further. To say that one is better than the other is not really right.”

Several fans and analysts regularly compare players from different eras to Michael Jordan and discuss their impact as compared to the 5-time NBA MVP. However, with time, the struggles and challenges players face also evolve, and they have their own journeys.

Hence, comparisons in such scenarios can always be problematic, something the legend has highlighted several times. However, he still has the drive to take the basketball and compete at the highest level.

Michael Jordan’s “competitive juices” still flowing

In the same conversation with Gayle King, Michael Jordan also expressed his willingness to play the game at the highest level possible. When asked if he thought about playing in the NBA again, he said:

“Oh 100%, it’s not just a teeny tiny, its ahuge piece. But I have compensated that feeling through NASCAR or through fishing. But that urge to dream, I wish I can still pick up a basketball.”

Michael Jordan and LeBron James are two of the most regular features in the GOAT debate, as fans on social media often butt heads while comparing their careers. Playing 23 seasons in the NBA, the 4-time NBA champion has set high standards for coming generations. However, Jordan’s championship numbers and dominance are still unmatched by any player in the NBA.
