“Paid Off His 2025 Golf Bets With One Hour-Long Interview”: Jason Whitlock Takes Brutal Shot at Michael Jordan Over One-and-Done $80,000,000 NBC Interview

Michael Jordan’s name is featured on almost every record list in the NBA, even when talking about the money that NBA athletes have made in their careers. The 6-time NBA champion is the richest NBA athlete of all-time, owing to his brand deals, including the Nike Air Jordan. But that’s not all! He reportedly even made $80 million for his hour-long interview with the NBA on NBC.

Talking about money, MJ also reportedly has a gambling habit. Several accounts from his teammates and other sources suggested that he was actively involved in gambling on various sporting activities during his playing days and even after that, golf being one of them.

When Ballsack Sports shared news of Jordan’s recent bag out of an hour-long interview, fans were in awe of the return. Allegedly, NBC paid the Chicago Bulls legend in hopes of some more interviews, but he has declined any further interviews with the media company.

NBA columnist Jason Whitlock reshared the post and referred to MJ’s golf bets being “paid off” by that kind of money:

“Goodness gracious. Mike paid off his 2025 golf bets with one hourlong interview.”

Michael Jordan, who is worth $3.8 billion (via Forbes), earned just $90 million out of that from his salary in the NBA. Over $2.5 billion of his net worth has come from his brand deals, the biggest being the Nike partnership.

In addition, Jordan sold his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets in 2023 for a massive $3 billion, after purchasing the stake in 2010 for $275 million. Moreover, he is a co-owner of the NASCAR team 23XI Racing, alongwith the veteran NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin. His brand value has often earned him a large amount of money.

Michael Jordan-signed rookie card sold for record $2.7 million

Anything associated with Michael Jordan is bound to grab attention in the real world. Even his “aftermarket” autographed 1996 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card made noise in October last season.

Auction house Goldin Auctions announced the news on X, declaring that the rookie card was sold at a whopping $2.7 million, which is also the all-time highest price paid for a trading card with an aftermarket autograph.

Most recently, Michael Jordan and his NASCAR team, 23XI Racing, and Front Row Motorsports were involved in a lawsuit against NASCAR over the league’s new team charters. It was settled outside the court after a few days of trial and has led to some sweeping changes in the format.
