LeBron James Records: Every NBA All-Time Record Held by Lakers Superstar

LeBron James added another milestone to his historic résumé Thursday when he broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for career field goals.

James hit a turnaround jumper with 12.3 seconds left in the first quarter of the Lakers’ 120-113 loss to the Denver Nuggets for the 15,838th field goal of his career, surpassing The Captain’s mark.

James moved past Abdul-Jabbar’s previous total of 15,837 field goals and finished the night with 15,842.

Here are more records held by James.

James also holds the record for most career field goal attempts. Thursday’s milestone was not the first time James overtook Abdul-Jabbar for a historic mark. In February 2023, he dethroned Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.

He did so with a third-quarter step-back jumper against the Oklahoma City Thunder, scoring his 38,388th point to pass Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387-point record that had stood since 1984.

James remains the only player to surpass 40,000 career points — Abdul-Jabbar’s previous mark was 38,387 — and he is now approaching 43,200.

James also owns the playoff scoring record, breaking Michael Jordan’s 5,987 on May 25, 2017. He now has 8,289 playoff points and counting.

James also holds the record for most turnovers, entering Friday night with 5,604. Second on that list is his former teammate Russell Westbrook with 5,027 entering Friday.

Another record held by James is the all-time mark for most minutes played across the regular season and playoffs.

In the postseason, James holds records for most games played (292), minutes (more than 12,000), field goals made (2,971) and field goal attempts (5,984).

He also passed Scottie Pippen for the most playoff steals with his 396th theft against Indiana’s Darren Collison on April 29, 2018.

James also leads in playoff victories with 184 and has swept 10 playoff series, an unmatched achievement.

James’ longevity also shows in regular-season records such as most minutes played, which he set Dec. 19, 2024, against Sacramento by surpassing Abdul-Jabbar’s 57,446.

His 23 NBA seasons are also an all-time mark. Recently, at 41 years and 44 days old, he became the oldest player to record a triple-double, surpassing Karl Malone’s mark.

James is also approaching Robert Parish’s record for games played with 1,606, now five shy after the Nuggets matchup.

While he leads the league in turnovers largely due to his massive workload, his records highlight a career defined by both longevity and historic production.

Earlier this year, James extended his All-Star streak to a record 22 selections. He is also a 21-time All-NBA selection, including a record 13 First Team honors, though those streaks will end this season after he fell short of the 65-game threshold.
