The GOAT debate in the NBA is one of the most talked-about topics among fans, especially relating to LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Several fans and analysts have given their thoughts on who is better between the two legends of the game. Now, James’ former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, Iman Shumpert, has shared his thoughts on the comparison and clarified his stance.
The former NBA player was featured on the Club Shay Shay podcast with Shanon Sharpe, where Shumpert talked about the hot topic. He said:
“How LeBron at the end of the game can pass to somebody, if it was my team I wouldn’t do that. I’m gonna take the DNA of Mike… To see Bron defer sometimes and do certain stuff, that’s why I put him over. Plus Mike never lost in the championship so that’s why.”
Even though James has collected several accolades, including the record for the highest bucket getter in the NBA, MJ has won six championships and is known for his killer instinct. The winningest player in the NBA had two three-peats with the same team, the Chicago Bulls, and several former players have taken his side in the debate between the two stars.
However, LeBron James’ longevity and constant competition on the highest level have kept him in the debate. He is still fighting for another title with a future superstar of the league in the LA Lakers squad, and looks forward to making an impact at the age of 41.
Chicago Bulls legend “hates” the GOAT debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan
Former Chicago Bulls star Joakim Noah shared his take on the GOAT debate and presented his views on playing against the 4-time NBA champion. Talking about the comparison on the Hoops Genius Podcast, the former center said:
“Who do I think is better? You know, I thought Baron Davis said something about that. It’s like, you don’t ask who is better, Picasso or Dali, they are both… greatness is greatness… So, who was the best player that I played against? I would say LeBron James. Like, I hate the GOAT (debate). Can’t LeBron and Jordan be great? It has to be who’s better? They never played against each other, they’re completely different players… It’s hard to say, let’s just appreciate greatness.”
Fans of both James and Jordan often quarrel on social media over their greatness, but comparing superstars from two different eras is always difficult. Both superstars have taken the sport to unmatched levels and will be named among the legends.
