“KD Trade Might Be The Fleece Of The Century”: NBA Fans Flame Kevin Durant as Rockets Fall Behind Suns in Standings

Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant is facing scrutiny from NBA fans on social media amid his team’s rough patch. The difficult stretch has led fans to question Houston’s massive seven-team trade to acquire him from Phoenix this offseason.

The Rockets finished the 2024-25 season as the second seed with a 52-30 record in a tightly contested Western Conference. In January this season, they are seventh in the West and have lost three games in a row, dropping to 22-14.

The Phoenix Suns sit ahead of them in the standings despite losing KD in the trade, holding sixth place with a 24-15 record. This development has led to significant trolling of Kevin Durant on social media.

Here are the most noteworthy reactions on X:

“Houston Rockets fans might not admit it publicly yet. But secretly, they wish they could go back in time and never do the Kevin Durant trade. They’re without a doubt the most disappointing team in the NBA this year. While the Suns are the most surprising team. Tough ☀️,” one fan wrote.

“The KD trade might be the fleece of the century dawg,” another fan said.

“Life comes at you fast,” a fan wrote, highlighting the Rockets’ position in the standings.

“He is the least guilty, but if the idea of bringing KD was so that we have the same record that the Suns have, then it can be said that the Rockets lost in that trade,” one fan commented.

“How did the Suns get better without KD, and the Rockets got worse with KD?” one fan asked.

While Jalen Green was widely considered one of the Suns’ biggest assets in the Kevin Durant trade, he has played only two games for Phoenix. Dillon Brooks has made up for his unavailability.

Brooks has made a significant leap in Phoenix, recording a career-high 21.2 points per game this season, establishing himself as a second option for the team. His two-way play has been key in the team’s improvement.

Kevin Durant passes Wilt Chamberlain on the NBA’s all-time scoring list amid the Rockets’ struggles

While the Houston Rockets have struggled, Kevin Durant has continued to produce at a high level. He leads the team in scoring, averaging 26.2 ppg, as well as 5.3 rpg and 4.4 apg, shooting 52.1%.

Durant made history during Friday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, surpassing Wilt Chamberlain to take the seventh spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. His historic night ended on a sour note as the Rockets lost 111-105.

The two-time champion will look to help his team get back on track when it returns to action against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.
