“Just Straight Racism”, “This Is Unbelievably Racist” – NBA Fans Livid After Denver Media Labels Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels As ’Cancers

The Denver Nuggets are out of the playoffs after losing Game 6 to an Anthony Edwards-less Minnesota Timberwolves. Nuggets fans have had a difficult time comprehending how that happened, while one of the team’s podcasters has landed in controversy. The co-host, Adam Mares, labeled the Wolves players as “cancers,” and fans were furious with the take.

Jaden McDaniels had a big Game 6, scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds in 45 minutes, and led the team to Round 2. The Wolves were without Edwards, who hyperextended his knee and suffered a bone bruise in Game 4. The win will also give him enough time to rest and be prepared for the next battle against the San Antonio Spurs.

While discussing what went wrong with the Nuggets this season, one of the team’s media personnel, Adam Mares, made an outlandish claim, saying:

“The Nuggets felt like in 2023 that they had to get rid of Bones (Hyland)… They felt like we’ve had such a good culture for the last few years, this or that, and we need to get rid of any cancers out there in the locker room… The reason they got rid of Russ (Russell Westbrook) was that they felt like he was a distraction, which he was in many ways behind the scenes.”

    Mares added:

“Sometimes culture is about, you can have some bad apples, but do they buy in. Jaden McDaniels, Anthony Edwards, Terrance Shannon Jr., and Naz Reid, they have some guys that in a different environment would be considered cancers, but they came together around a singular identity.”

However, fans did not let the statement slide and shared their opinions on Mares’ take on the Wolves players, labeling it as “racist.”

Fans enraged over the Denver podcaster’s statement on Anthony Edwards and the Wolves

One fan labeled the statement as “racism” and wrote:

    “Just straight racism”

One more user called out the podcaster for making such comments and wrote:

    “This is unbelievably racist”

Another user was furious about the statements and wrote:

“What the fu**? Is this not a disgusting (borderline racist) thing for a media figure to be saying???”

One more fan was livid with Mares’ claim and let his feelings be known in the comments:

“Delete you podcast bro and come back next October when the 26’-27’ seasons starts. Quite frankly this is mouth garbage, disrespectful and not true. Find shame and God”

Another Wolves fan wasn’t taking any more of it and wrote:

“So happy their team and media are miserable, they deserve it”

The Nuggets’ front office will have a lot of work to do in the offseason if the rumors swirling on social media have any material in them. The team might look for a better pairing for the Joker and bring someone more reliable.

Meanwhile, the Wolves will battle the Spurs in the conference semifinals and will look to make their place in the finals. However, the task won’t be easy! Time will tell how that pans out for Minnesota.
