“Just an Outright Dirty Player”: NBA Fans Absolutely Rip Draymond Green For Intentionally Grabbing Karl-Anthony Towns’ Ankle

Thursday’s matchup at the Chase Center between the Golden State Warriors and the New York Knicks quickly turned into a physical contest, especially at the start of the fourth quarter. In just a minute and a half, officials were forced to stop play three separate times to review potential flagrant or technical fouls. The sequence was sparked by a controversial moment involving Draymond Green and Karl-Anthony Towns.

While trying to steal the ball from Towns, Green lost his balance and went down. With the paint wide open and Towns headed toward an easy basket, Green attempted to stop the play from the floor. To do so, he grabbed Towns’ left ankle, causing the Knicks star to lose his footing and suffer a dangerous fall.

The play immediately drew attention online, with many fans livid at Green for putting another opponent at risk.

“Just an outright dirty player man,” @ArchieBPistons said.

“Why does he enjoy trying to injure other players,” @TGTatum4_3 wrote.

“Dirtiest player to ever play in the NBA,” @knickgiant29858 said.

“Gonna be in the Hall of Flagrant when he retires! 1st Ballot,” @SleeperHawks said.

“At what point does the league start punishing this ni**a cuz this is ridiculous,” @FriedbyAe said.

“The UFC should sign him ASAP,” @Thegift510 said.

After a brief review, the officiating crew, including James Williams, Jacyn Goble, and Jenna Schroeder, assessed Draymond Green with a type 1 flagrant foul. Through the first half of the 2025-2026 regular season, Green has now picked up nine technical fouls and two flagrant fouls, along with two ejections already.

Draymond Green reunites with former Warriors assistant coach mid-game vs Knicks

Mike Brown spent six seasons on the Warriors’ bench as an assistant coach from 2016 to 2022 before moving on to become a head coach with the Sacramento Kings. Now leading the New York Knicks, Brown returned to the Bay Area for the first time since taking on the role.

The reunion sparked a warm moment with Draymond Green, who played under Brown during those six years. Late in the second quarter, as Karl-Anthony Towns stood at the free-throw line, Green walked over and embraced his former coach with a heartfelt hug.

Draymond Green had a notable contribution to the Warriors’ 126-113 win, finishing with six points, five rebounds and three assists.
