Joel Embiid Injury Update: Sports Doctor Warns Of Worst-Case Scenario After Scary Setback As 76ers Star Gets The Monkey Off His Back In Game 7 Win

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers pulled off a dramatic Game 7 win on Saturday, but it may have come at a cost. Late in the game, Tyrese Maxey inadvertently collided with Embiid’s left knee, causing the Sixers big man to buckle in pain.

As Game 7 came to a close, NBA injury insider Dr. Evan Jeffries offered his insights on Embiid’s apparent knee issues.

“Worried about Joel Embiid’s Left knee. Forced hyperextension with some rotation/valgus force concerns be for. Worst case scenario: ACL/and or MCL. Best case scenario: Hyperextension joint capsule injury/Bone bruise.”

When Joel Embiid returned to action in Game 5 after missing some time due to an appendectomy, he became the difference-maker, scoring inside and outside to power the Sixers’ offense.

Over the past three years, Embiid’s health has been a huge variable for Philadelphia. Ever since winning the NBA MVP award in 2023, the 7-foot center has not logged more than 39 regular season games in a single campaign.

With a showdown against the New York Knicks looming in the second round, Embiid will have to be a constant presence once again. Karl-Anthony Towns is set to wreak havoc as both a beast inside and a threat from the perimeter, and the Sixers will need Embiid to keep the Knicks big man in check.

Viral Clip Shows Joel Embiid Reacting to NSFW Chant From Celtics Fans in Game 7

Throughout his career, Joel Embiid has dealt with critics who have taken shots at his availability, his performance on the court, and even his choice of national team.

In Game 7, the Sixers center heard a resounding “F*** Embiid” chant from the Boston crowd. A viral clip shows that Embiid calmly told the crowd to shush themselves.

Embiid himself would not be silenced, as he finished with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists to lead the Sixers to victory in Game 7.
