Jimmy Butler Injury Update: Warriors Suffer Colossal Blow As Star Goes Down With Knee Injury

The Golden State Warriors suffered a colossal blow on Monday after Jimmy Butler went down with a brutal knee injury. During the third quarter of the Warriors’ showdown against Butler’s former team, the Miami Heat, Butler landed awkwardly on his right leg and immediately hit the floor in seething pain.

Butler clutched at his right knee, and that sight had the whole building in shock as players and fans had their hands up in the air, hoping it wasn’t a serious injury. Butler was helped off the floor after coach Steve Kerr and other players checked up on him.

Butler had 17 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 20 minutes on 6 of 11 shots. He was 5 of 5 from the free-throw line, while being a plus-minus of +5.

The Warriors were in the middle of their best stretch with 11 wins in 15 games before Monday’s game against the Heat. Butler was integral to that, and there will be concerns about Golden State’s ability to sustain this run without him.

The Warriors officially ruled him out with a right knee injury. Jimmy Butler had a meniscus tear in 2018 and an MCL sprain in 2024 on the same leg, so this could end up being a major scare, if it’s anything more than a hyperextension.

Steph Curry wishes Jimmy Butler well as Warriors await an MRI update

The Warriors are awaiting an MRI update on Jimmy Butler’s injured knee. Like everybody else, Steph Curry is also holding his breath and hoping it isn’t as serious as it looks. Curry spoke to reporters about it, saying:

“Praying for the best with the scans and all that. … Hopefully he’s alright.”

Curry also spoke volumes about Butler’s demeanor despite the injury, revealing that his co-star stayed calm and cracked jokes while he was lying on the floor. Butler also attempted to get to the free-throw line.
