Former NBA guard Jalen Rose’s daughter, Mariah Rose, made a post on social media regarding Victor Wembanyama and the president, Donald Trump.
Speaking on her Instagram page @hoopsforhotties, Rose ranked her favorite NBA stars “based on vibes.” She ranked Wembanyama on top, citing his qualifications while drawing a parallel with Donald Trump.
“Number one is Victor Wembanyama,” she said. “I like that he’s tall and I like that he’s well-rounded. He’s more qualified to be our president than the president. I mean, he reads seven books a day. He sleeps for 23 hours a day and only wakes up when it’s time to play basketball. He speaks 47 languages, and he’s 7-foot-4.”
Mariah Rose ranked Wembanyama first, Anthony Edwards second, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander third, Tyrese Haliburton fourth, Giannis Antetokounmpo fifth, Klay Thompson sixth and Jalen Brunson seventh.
Rose cleared up that her ranking was not based on the players’ basketball skills but on their “vibe.”
Former NBA Coach warns against Victor Wembanyama’s nickname, citing Donald Trump’s administration
Victor Wembanyama has often been referred to as an “alien,” owing to his unique skillset and impressive physical build. But, former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy has advised against calling the San Antonio Spurs center with that name, citing the Donald Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies.
“The only thing is, in the current political environment, you gotta watch that word, Michael Grady,” Van Gundy said. “They deport those. We do not want Victor Wembanyama deported. Let’s go with a different nickname.”
Wembanyama also expressed his disdain with the state of things following the killing of Alex Pretti by law enforcement agents in Minneapolis.
“PR has tried, but I’m not going to sit here and give some politically correct (answer), you know?” Wembanyama said to reporters. “Every day, I wake up and see the news and I’m horrified. I think that it’s crazy that some people might make it seem or make it sound like it’s acceptable, like the murder of civilians is acceptable.”
Wembanyama is having a solid season for the Spurs, averaging 23.7 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.8 blocks per game, shooting 50.1%, including 34.7% from 3-point range.
