Is Anthony Edwards Playing Tonight? Key Update on Timberwolves Star’s Status For 76er Clash (Apr. 3)

All eyes will be on the Minnesota Timberwolves’ injury report for Friday’s clash against the Philadelphia 76ers due to Anthony Edwards. The All-Star game MVP was a last-minute exclusion from Thursday’s contest against the Detroit Pistons. Edwards was questionable due to a knee injury. Just as many believed he would be upgraded to available, Edwards was ruled out due to his knee injury and illness.

That cost him his end-of-season awards eligibility. The Timberwolves also lost, further sliding in the Western Conference battle for the third seed. Since Edwards was questionable on Thursday, he could carry the same status into Friday’s game. Edwards will likely be a game-time decision.

The star has missed 16 games, and Friday would be the 17th if he sits again. Edwards has averaged 29.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists on 49.3% shooting, including 40.4% from 3-point range. His contribution to the Timberwolves’ offense is massive, and if he can’t play, Minnesota might struggle against a rejuvenated 76ers roster.

Anthony Edwards Stats vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Anthony Edwards has averaged 24.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 11 games against the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s shot 45.7% from the field and 36.7% from 3-point range. However, he’s only managed a 5-6 record against the Eastern Conference playoff contenders.

The Timberwolves star recorded his sixth loss against Philadelphia when the teams met on Feb. 22, despite a 28-point game. The Timberwolves lost 135-108 after Tyrese Maxey’s 39 points, VJ Edgecombe’s 24 and Quentin Grimes’ 19-point efforts went unmatched.

The Timberwolves will hope for improved production from Edwards’ supporting cast on Friday.
