Indiana Pacers vs New York Knicks Preview and Prediction
After starting the year with a brutal 6-28 stretch, the Indiana Pacers began January by losing three straight games. To their credit, they briefly bounced back, putting together the best run of their season by winning four of five games between Jan. 8 and Jan. 16.
Since then, Indiana has gone just 3-8 and is currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak. Their record has slipped to 13-40, leaving them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
The New York Knicks come into this matchup on a very different note. From Jan. 21 through Feb. 4, they rattled off eight consecutive wins, marking their strongest stretch of the season. That run ended with a 118-80 blowout loss to the Detroit Pistons on Feb. 6, but New York responded immediately, comfortably defeating the Boston Celtics 111-89 the following night.
The first meeting between these two teams, a rematch of the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals, was far more competitive than expected. Indiana, who entered the game at 6-20, had a 16-point advantage late in the third quarter. However, the Knicks leaned on the star power of Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges, who combined for 47 points. Finally, Brunson sealed the comeback with a clutch three-pointer in the final seconds, giving New York a dramatic 114-113 win.
Looking ahead, Tuesday’s matchup clearly favors the Knicks. They are dominant at home with a 21-6 record, while the Pacers have struggled mightily on the road at 3-22. The injury situation also tilts heavily in New York’s favor. Indiana is dealing with the additions of Ivica Zubac, Aaron Nesmith, Micah Potter, T.J. McConnell, and Johnny Furphy in the injury report, while the Knicks have only featured OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, and Miles McBride to the list.
With the difference in form, health, and home-court success, New York enters as a strong favorite.
Prediction: Expect the Knicks to win by 16 points.
