“If You Don’t Give Him a Statue You Are Fu*king Bugging”: LeBron James’ Former Teammate Sends Clear Message to Lakers Amid Jeanie Buss’ Cryptic Answer

One of the biggest honors for an NBA player is to get a statue in a city where he played, and LeBron James will be one of the recipients of that honor after his retirement. However, where he will get a statue became an interesting debate among the No Fouls Given panelists. The conversation was about Jeanie Buss’ latest take on the same question on social media.

James has won championships with three different teams, the LA Lakers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Miami Heat, in his career, and has his name etched in several league records due to his longevity. The 41-year-old has made his mark wherever he has played in his career. And when the question was raised on whether he deserves a statue in LA, LBJ’s former teammate jumped in to back the legend.

NBA journalist and co-host of the show, Wosny Lambre, believed that James might not get a statue in LA, as the franchise has only honored those who either won multiple chips with them or were in LA for a majority of their careers. James has none thus far. However, former Lakers SF Danny Green expressed his feelings and said that the 4-time NBA champion deserves to be honored in every city he has played. Green added:

“He gonna get a statue in Miami, Cleveland. If he don’t get one y’all are fu*king bugging. Any team he’s played for, if you don’t give that man a statue, did he play for the Lakers? So then, yes. Every team he’s played for if you don’t give him a statue you are fu*king bugging.”

As Green said, King James became the all-time leading scorer in the NBA, the most total wins in regular season and playoffs, and many others as a Laker. Moreover, he also revived the team after Kobe Bryant’s retirement, as the franchise went into a decade-long dry spell.

Notably, LeBron James won a championship with the Lakers in 2020. However, the franchise’s governor, Jeanie Buss, gave a vague answer when asked if LBJ would get a statue after he retires.

“He is still playing,” Jeanie Buss weighs in on whether LeBron James would get a statue in LA

LeBron James won back-to-back championships with the Miami Heat and took Cleveland to the only title they have in the franchise’s history. While both these feats deserve a statue, his accolades in LA are no less either. Moreover, King James is still searching for another title with the Lakers before he calls it quits.

In a short interview with the internet personality Joe Andaloro, Lakers governor Jeanie Buss gave a diplomatic answer on LBJ getting a statue for the franchise. She said:

“He’s still playing. We don’t talk about statues until someone who does… We’ve talked about that. The first statue was Magic Johnson. We’ve gone back and added others. It’s always out there.”

The Lakers already have the statues of several legendary players: Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kobe Bryant. While there is a lot of confusion around his future in the league, fans expect and pray that LeBron James returns for a 24th season to contend for the title.
