“I Get Why MJ Punched This Bum”: Warriors Fans Fuming After Steve Kerr “Loved” Brandin Podziemski Taking a Questionable 3-Pointer in Close Loss

The Golden State Warriors suffered a frustrating 110-107 loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday, a game that saw Jalen Brunson and co. erase a 21-point deficit. What made things even tougher for Warriors fans was Steve Kerr’s reaction to a questionable late-game three-point attempt by Brandin Podziemski.

With under 30 seconds left and the Knicks holding a one-point lead, Podziemski brought the ball up the court. Instead of running down the clock and setting up a controlled possession, he quickly looked for a two-for-one opportunity and launched a three-pointer with about 25 seconds still on the clock.

The shot missed, allowing Josh Hart to grab the rebound and giving New York the possession. Even if it had gone in, the timing would have turned the shot clock off, which defeats the main idea behind a two-for-one situation. Podziemski also had not been particularly hot from beyond the arc, shooting 2-for-6 from three before that attempt. However, Kerr had no problem with the decision.

“Loved it,” Steve Kerr said in the postgame press conference. “Didn’t want to call a timeout, I wanted to see the play and flow. Had Brunson on him, looked like he was going to attack, Brunson backed up. I love it. Take the three, go with the flow.”

Kerr’s response did not sit well with many Warriors fans, who quickly voiced their frustration on social media.

“😂😂😂 now i get why MJ punched this bum,” @kyleports said.

“If anybody else had taken that SAME shot he would have yelled at them the same way he yelled at Will Richards. Kerr is trying to get Podz a 200 million dollar contract. It’s disgusting,” @MediaplatWorld said.

“Kerr’s the biggest hypocrite. Woulda gone crazy if it was anyone but Podz taking that shot,” @iamultramarine wrote.

“This is the definition of enabling,” @bryant_gotgame wrote.

“If Will Richard took that shot Kerr wouldve had him hung in Times Square,” @EdotHxncho said.

“Oh my goodness LOVED IT???? What is this coach doing @warriors ???? Did @brandinpodziem2 holding him at gun point or what???? LMAO,” @imbeimeirou said.

Even though that late shot attempt didn’t work out, Podziemski still had a strong night overall. With Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green all unavailable, he stepped up and led the Warriors with 25 points, along with six assists and five rebounds.

Brandin Podziemski’s poor pass results in Will Richards getting yelled at

The Warriors-Knicks matchup had an unusual moment that left Steve Kerr visibly frustrated on the sidelines.

During a fastbreak, Brandin Podziemski tried to push the pace by sending a pass ahead to Will Richard, who was sprinting toward the basket. With the court wide open, it looked like a simple scoring opportunity. However, Podziemski’s pass came in too fast and off target.

While Richard managed to control the ball, the awkward pass threw off the rhythm of the play. Instead of finishing the easy layup, he was forced to pass the ball back out while trying to keep possession alive. The sequence quickly ended in a turnover.

Kerr’s reaction caught attention because he expressed frustration toward Richard rather than Podziemski, who threw the inaccurate pass.

“I was upset with him, but I kind of regret losing my composure a little bit there,” Kerr said.
