This past season didn’t exactly go the way that Brandin Podziemski intended. Though he and the rest of the Golden State Warriors were looking to secure a playoff appearance in back-to-back years, their hopes were waylaid when the Phoenix Suns eliminated them in the play-in tournament.
Now, it’s back to the drawing board for the 23-year-old guard. With the Warriors now on vacation, Podziemski has apparently decided to change things up with his hairstyle.
As the image of Brandin Podziemski’s new dreadlocks went viral, fans let the Warriors guard know exactly how they felt about his hairstyle. In the process, a number of other NBA players (including Podziemski’s most celebrated teammate) got a special mention.
“He’s the Jack Harlow of the nba. Hate s*** like this no cap”
“Maybe this new look can change his game performance as well because the Warriors looked clueless without Curry towards the end of the season.”
“not sure what’s more surprising. the new look or tgat it’s already getting more attention than his game performance”
“Now he going to play like Shai”
“Why is a white dude rocking dreads”
“Why does he look like jaylon tyson”
There is hope, of course, that Podziemski will indeed take the next step to becoming a lethal scorer and playmaker. In his first three seasons in the league, the 6-foot-4 guard has taken incremental steps towards improvement; from a scoring average of 9.2 points per game on 45.4% FG shooting, Podziemski has gone up to 13.8 ppg on a 45.5% shooting clip.
“I Want to Be Here for the Long Term”: Brandin Podziemski Talks About Future in Golden State
Notably, Brandin Podziemski has expressed an interest in remaining with the Warriors for the long haul. In an interview with Warriors beat writer Danny Emerman, Podziemski said some wishful thinking out loud.
“I want to be here for the long term. It’s always special having the team that drafted you, so, hopefully, we can get something done”
With Steph Curry and Draymond Green in the twilight of their careers, the Warriors will have to establish the future of their franchise sooner rather than later. Podziemski, a draft pick of theirs back in 2023, can certainly play a role in their future.
