“He’s a Lousy 3-PT Shooter”: Skip Bayless Torches Luka Doncic and LeBron James Over Botched Final Possession in Brutal Loss To Orlando Magic

Skip Bayless had some choice words for Luka Doncic and LeBron James following the Los Angeles Lakers’ botched play, which saw them lose to the Orlando Magic on Tuesday.

James gave the Lakers a one-point lead (109-108) with 26 seconds left to play. On the other hand, Wendell Carter Jr. scored for the Magic on a second-chance opportunity to put Orlando up with six seconds left (110-109).

The Lakers called a timeout before the final play and gave the inbound pass to Luka Doncic, who passed on an open look, giving the ball to James, who missed a fadeaway 3-point shot. Bayless criticized the stars with a message on X after the game.

“WHY DIDN’T LUKA TAKE THE OPEN 3 TO WIN IT?” Bayless wrote. “BECAUSE HE WAS 2-10 FROM 3. HE’S A LOUSY 3-PT SHOOTER FOR A GUY TAKING 2ND MOST IN THE NBA. SO HE DUMPED TO LEBRON, WHO BUILT IN AN EXCUSE BY MAKING IT ABSURDLY HARD FALLING OUT OF BOUNDS AND MISSING BADLY.”

James finished the game with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. He shot 8-for-13, including 2-for-6 from 3-point range. Doncic recorded 22 points, nine rebounds and 15 assists on 8-for-24 shooting. He went 2-for-10 from long range.

Paolo Banchero recorded a game-high 36 points in the win, along with 10 rebounds and six assists. Wendell Carter Jr. finished with an efficient double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds on 9-for-13 shooting.

JJ Redick breaks down the Lakers’ final play after LeBron James and Luka Doncic’s botch cost the team against the Magic

Lakers coach JJ Redick addressed the media following the Lakers’ close loss against the Magic on Tuesday. Speaking on the team’s last 30 seconds, Redick expressed how he thought Doncic had a “decent shot.”

“Yeah, I mean, I haven’t had a chance to really get into it with Luka,” Redick said. “We obviously ran a play to get a look. You know, I felt like he had a decent shot. You know, I don’t know if he thought Isaac was going to overhelp LeBron there.”

After Tuesday’s loss, the Lakers are 34-23 for the season, holding sixth place in the Western Conference. They have lost two consecutive games and will look to get on track in their next matchup against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.
