Tyrese Maxey reacted to the state of XFinity Mobile Arena during the Philadelphia 76ers’ conference semifinals series against the New York Knicks. The Knicks completed their sweep of the 76ers on Sunday, grabbing a 144-114 win in Game 4.
Speaking to the media after Philadelphia’s season ended, Maxey was asked for his thoughts on Knicks fans filling up the seats at XFinity Mobile Arena.
“It absolutely sucks, if I’m being honest. It just sucks,” Maxey said. “That’s really all I can say about it, man. It’s hard. It’s definitely difficult. It’s only one way to put a stop to it and it’s that we have to go out there and win these games.”
He continued, noting that the away crowd felt louder at the 76ers’ home court than it did at Madison Square Garden.
“I know we lost Game 2 and 1, but Game 2 was better. The regular season was better. I was telling them, it felt louder here for them than it did in the Garden.”
“We got to put a stop to it as a team. Winning these games, that’s gonna make our fans louder than theirs or whatever. I don’t know how to keep them out. I don’t know the logistics of it, but it does suck. I can’t even lie. It definitely does suck.”
Tyrese Maxey calls series vs. Knicks one of the “hardest” of his career
Tyrese Maxey’s production took a big dip during the 76ers’ semifinals series against the Knicks. He averaged 28.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game during the regular season, shooting 46.2%.
In the 2026 Conference semifinals, Maxey’s production dropped to 18.3 points, 4.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in four games. He shot 43.3%, including 15.8% from 3-point range. Speaking after Philadelphia’s Game 4 loss, he described the series as one of the “hardest” he has been in.
“They made it tough on me. I can’t even sit here and lie,” Maxey said following the game. “They did a good job of, just, I saw multiple [defenders] every single night. … I’ve got to really watch it, because it was definitely one of the hardest series I’ve played in, for just myself.”
While the 76ers fell short of their goal, exiting the playoffs in the second round, 2025-26 was one of the most productive seasons of Maxey’s career. He recorded career-highs in points, rebounds and assists and was named an All-Star starter for the first time in his career.
