Golden State Warriors NBA Playoffs Picture: Updated Standings, Best Case Scenario After Win vs Nets (Mar. 25)

The Golden State Warriors took another step in the right direction after a 109-106 comeback win over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. It was their second consecutive win. The Warriors trailed by 13, but an excellent fourth-quarter run helped them secure a crucial win as they hope to climb as high as eighth to secure a favorable position in the play-in tournament.

That would give them the cushion of a second chance to make it past the play-in if they lose the seventh-seed game. The Warriors had Gui Santos, Brandin Podziemski and Kristaps Porzingis to thank for getting them in this position. Santos had a career-high 31 points with two steals. He shot 11 of 16.

Meanwhile, Podziemski added 22 with six rebounds and five assists on 6 of 11 shots, while Porzingis scored 17. He was 9 of 10 from the free-throw line.

Here’s how the win impacts the Golden State Warriors’ NBA playoffs picture.

The Warriors improved to 35-38. However, they remain in 10th. Golden State trails ninth-placed Portland (37-37) by 2.5 games and the eighth-placed Clippers (36-36) by the same margin. It’s still attainable for the Warriors to get to eighth, especially with both teams prone to losses.

Golden State Warriors NBA Playoffs Picture: Best Case Scenario

The Warriors’ best-case scenario remains an eighth-place finish. The Suns, who are seventh, are five games ahead and it’s unlikely the Warriors win enough, while Phoenix loses enough for Golden State to make that jump. The worst-case scenario for the Warriors remains a 10th-place finish.

Golden State Warriors NBA Playoffs: Remaining Schedule Strength

The Warriors have the 15th toughest schedule, with their next nine opponents boasting a combined .500 win rate. Their most difficult matchups include the Spurs, Lakers, Nuggets, Cavaliers, Rockets and Clippers. The likelihood of Golden State finishing ninth or 10th remains higher than eighth.

The Warriors have six of their nine games left at home so that’s one advantage they have in this stretch.
