Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell’s fiancée, Coco Jones, is all set to perform at one of the biggest nights in American sports, Super Bowl LX on January 7 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The New England Patriots will be in the final bout against the Seattle Seahawks for the title.
The 28-year-old American singer-songwriter will perform before kickoff, along with Charlie Puth. Before her big performance, let’s look at her relationship timeline with the NBA star.
A timeline of Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones’ relationship
The story of Mitchell and Jones began in January 2024 during the Paris Olympics, when the 7-time NBA All-Star was scheduled to play in the NBA’s international games with the Cavaliers. Jones was also seen in Paris.
In July 2024, the two high-profile celebrities were spotted together at Michael Rubin’s Fourth of July party, sparking dating rumors. Several other big names were part of that get-together, including Tom Brady, Kim Kardashian, Jay-Z, and others.
Two months later, in September 2024, Jones and Mitchell were spotted holding hands at Usher’s concert in Las Vegas, and that pretty much sealed the deal for fans. To put a stamp on rumors and speculations, in December 2025, the artist sat courtside in one of the Cavaliers’ games to support her beau.
In March 2025, Jones was featured in the Club Shay Shay podcast with former NFL player and analyst Shannon Sharpe, where she announced her relationship with Donovan Mitchell. Addressing the rumors, she said:
“Secrecy is not what I prefer. I don’t want to feel like I have to be somebody secret. I don’t want to make anybody feel like they’re mine. For me, I’m trying to protect myself, and I’m trying to protect my family and who I love, so I am more private.”
Jones is a 2024 Grammy Winner for Best R&B performance in her song ‘ICU’ and has earned eight nominations, including one in 2026 for her R&B album ‘Why Not More?’ Mitchell and Jones got engaged in July 2025, when the Cavaliers superstar posted on Instagram and shared the news with fans.
Mitchell and Jones have often mentioned each other in their statements, expressing their love and respect. After the engagement, Jones said, via People:
“I’m like, ‘Girl, you got to stop. This is the biggest contract I’ve ever signed.’ You know what I’m saying? This is a real-life, forever commitment.”
Donovan Mitchell also did not hesitate to talk big about his fiancée in his statement from November last year. He said:
“I think she’s the best ever… Any chance I get that I can get to promote her and to put her on a pedestal that she deserves, I’m going to.”
While Mitchell will welcome his new teammates after the midseason trade period, including James Harden, Keon Ellis, Dennis Schroder, and others, Coco Jones will prepare to take the big stage during the Super Bowl pregame event.
