Did LeBron James Call Arizona HC Tommy Lloyd to Discuss Bryce James’ Playing Time? Debunking Viral Tweet

LeBron James has been known to be fiercely supportive of his children’s endeavors in their respective sports. On Sunday, fans came across a viral tweet claiming that the LA Lakers superstar called up Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd to discuss the playing time of his son Bryce.

Though this tweet swiftly gained traction, it doesn’t appear to be grounded on solid evidence. For one, no major news outlets or other reliable sources have confirmed that James ever called up Lloyd to discuss this matter. On top of this, the individual who posted this tweet (a netizen who goes by the handle @ShaneTuttleNCAA) claims in their X account description: “Everything I do is satire”

Another damning piece of evidence against this tweet is the fact that LeBron James’ son Bryce was confirmed to be redshirting his freshman year with the Wildcats. Lloyd himself announced this after months went by without Bryce seeing any playing time for Arizona.

“The redshirting decision was just a long play, to give Bryce the most options in his career as his career unfolds,” Lloyd said at the time.

While it’s characteristic of James to look out for his children’s best interests, the claim that he went to the extent of calling his son’s college coach is highly likely to be unfounded.

Though it’ll be a while before Bryce sees action for the Wildcats, LeBron James continues to show support for his son’s college team.

After Arizona defeated Houston to win the Big 12 championship Saturday night, James posted an Instagram story to celebrate the Wildcats’ title conquest.

“POV: YOU the BIG 12 tournament CHAMPS”

Brayden Burries had 21 points and Koa Peat added 21 as the Wildcats exacted revenge on their Big 12 finals tormentors last year. With the momentum of this championship win, Arizona (seeded no. 1 in the West) will take on no. 16 Long Island University when the NCAA tournament begins.
