Did Kevin Durant Request a Trade After Rockets’ Game 3 Loss? Debunking Viral Tweet

Kevin Durant was announced out of the roster for Game 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers due to a left ankle sprain. That cost the Houston Rockets dearly, as they now trail in the series, 0-3. Meanwhile, a parody account on X claimed that the 2-time NBA champion has demanded a trade from the franchise.

A user, named NBACentel, shared the claim on X and wrote:

“BREAKING: Kevin Durant has requested a trade.”

However, given that the rumor was shared by a parody account on X, the update is not true. Moreover, no such news has been shared officially by any credible source in the league.

“Up in the air,” The Rockets might have to play without Kevin Durant in Game 4

Kevin Durant is nursing an ankle sprain, which is supposed to take several days. This means the forward might miss Game 4 as well after the Rockets dropped the third game in clutch moments. Addressing the situation about his injury, the team’s head coach, Ime Udoka, said after the game, via Houston Chronicle:

“Up in the air. I think we made some progress in the last few days, but we’ll see how that [goes] with only one day in between.”

Alperen Sengun led the team with 33 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, three steals, and one block in the game. Every other starter scored more than 15 points, except Tari Eason, who went 0-4 from deep. Amen Thompson and Jabbari Smith Jr. also had standout performances with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 24 points, six rebounds, respectively.

Interestingly, Game 2, the only game that Durant played in this series, was their worst game offensively thus far, and they lost 101-94. Many analysts and fans stated that the Lakers would not come out victorious in Round 1. However, the team has proved its mettle and is on the verge of sweeping the Rockets.
