Kevin Durant has long been seen as an inspiration to young NBA players. His impact goes beyond what he does on the court. Durant has also built a reputation as a savvy businessman, carefully investing his earnings to grow his wealth far beyond basketball. However, not every investment he has made has been met with praise.
Ahead of Sunday’s All-Star Game, one of Durant’s past investments resurfaced during a tense exchange on X. In a back-and-forth with user @PranavSriraman, it came up that Durant had previously invested in Skydio, a drone technology company, which sold stock to IDF (Israel Defense Forces) during its military occupation in Gaza.
The conversation between Durant and the X user began over the NBA’s redesigned trophies but quickly shifted when the user questioned him about the Skydio investment. Durant pushed for an explanation about why the user disliked the new trophies, while the user pressed him for answers about the investment.
“They look cheap and uncreative,” @PranavSriraman wrote. “There I answered your question. Will you answer my question about Skydio, a drone company you invested in, selling to the IDF, or will you stick by your brand of deflecting and ducking?”
It has been more than 10 hours since the exchange and Durant has not responded further.
The situation gained more attention when screenshots circulated online showing Durant’s alleged burner, @gethigher77. In a direct message, the account reportedly wrote, “If they need drones!! We got ya,” in response to a post claiming Durant was profiting from violence in Gaza.
According to Skydio’s website, Durant was part of a group of investors in the company’s Series E round, which raised $230 million. Other investors included high-profile figures such as Magic Johnson and Justin Timberlake, among several angel investors.
Kevin Durant allegedly trolls current and past teammates
Kevin Durant is once again at the center of social media drama after an alleged burner account, @gethigher77 on X, surfaced with some controversial posts about his former and current teammates.
The account reportedly addressed Durant’s tumultuous stint in Phoenix, where he appeared to express frustration with Devin Booker and former head coach Frank Vogel.
“Two dictators… Stalin and Hitler. Mussolini and Kim Jong Un.”
Other activities also included harsh criticism of his current Houston Rockets teammates.
“I can’t trust Jabari to make a f**kin shot or get a stop.”
“Ima turn the ball over with this shitty ass team. Idgaf. Your franchise player can’t shoot or defend. That’s a wayyyyyyy bigger issue than my turnovers. Remember, these guys are your future.”
Durant has openly admitted in the past to using burner accounts to respond to critics, which only fuels speculation. However, there is no confirmed evidence that he owns or operates this specific account.
If the situation continues without clarification, it could create tension with the Rockets camp.
