Did Houston Rockets Waive Kevin Durant Over Alleged Leaked DMs? Debunking Viral Tweet

Kevin Durant was in the spotlight for the wrong reasons during Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game as the Houston Rockets forward’s alleged leaked DMs took over NBA X. Durant was accused of using a burner account named “getoffmydickerson” through which he allegedly dissed several players, teams and coaches, including his Rockets teammates.

Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith, in particular, were two players targeted in those leaked DMs. Here’s what the text from Durant’s alleged burner said:

“Ima turn the ball over with this s**ty a** team. Idgaf. Your franchise player (Sengun) can’t shoot or defend. That’s wayyyyy bigger issue than my turnovers. Remember, these guys are your future.”

    A separate screenshot said:

“I can’t trust Jabari to make a f**kin shot or get a stop.”

    He added:

    “He’s lowkey ret*arded”

After these alleged leaked DMs went viral, a post on X from “NBA Centel” suggested that the Houston Rockets were waiving Kevin Durant. However, that’s not the case. Durant is not getting waived by the Rockets.

The post garnered up to 296,000 views in two hours. While some are aware that it’s a parody account, it still left a lot of users on X confused.

Kevin Durant goes viral for being glued to his phone after alleged leaked DMs surface

Kevin Durant was spotted using his phone during Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game tournament after alleged DMs were leaked. Several videos of Durant went viral, with many users insinuating it was due to his alleged burner’s messages that rocked NBA X.

YouTuber FlightReacts also called it out.

To add to Kevin Durant’s woes, he also underperformed in the NBA All-Star Game, especially in the championship round. Durant went scoreless in the final as his team, the USA Stripes, lost 47-21 to the USA Stars. He missed four shot attempts. In three games, he scored only 12 points on 5 of 15 shots.
