Did Drake Diss DeMar DeRozan In His Latest Track ‘National Treasure’? Ex-Raptors Catching Flak From Toronto Native Explored

Hip-hop artist Drake shook the music world after he dropped three albums on the same day, raising eyebrows over NBA connections. Earlier, a leaked song from one of his albums, Iceman, named Make Them Remember, made noise for some of its lyrics referring to LeBron James and his relationship, after the legend’s Kendrick Lamar connection. And now, DeMar DeRozan has caught light for his mention in one of the songs.

DeRozan, a long-time friend of his fellow Compton native, Kendrick Lamar, had a healthy bond with Drake earlier, when the forward played for the Toronto Raptors. Moreover, the Canadian music artist was the global ambassador of the team. However, his relationship with the Sacramento Kings’ forward went sour.

Did Drake diss DeMar DeRozan on his latest album?

Drake dissed DeMar DeRozan on one of his songs from the latest album, Iceman. The lyrics stated that Raptors fans were wrong to believe in him to bring the franchise a ring. He added that they recieved a better piece in Kawhi Leonard, who brought them the title in 2019. The lyrics read:

We must’ve been dealin’ the spur of the moment
‘Cause why did we think you could get us a ring?
They braggin’ ’bout how you went home, the fuck are they on?
    Crodie, we threw ’em away
G Pop sent us a real one from Daygo
And next thing we knew, we was doin’ parades”

Notably, DeRozan was even featured in the video for Lamar’s five-time Grammy-winning track, Not Like Us. The NBA player was also seen at Kendrick’s The Pop Out concert in Los Angeles. Drake and Kendrick were involved in a high-profile hip-hop beef that involved nine diss tracks from both sides. The music artist was also in controversy for dissing LeBron James in one song.

Drake takes shots at LeBron James in his latest album

On his album Iceman, Drake went berserk on everybody who was once his friend but decided to back the other side in his beef with Kendrick Lamar. LeBron James was also one of those. He enjoyed a good bond with the Canadian rapper. However, his relationship worsened after LBJ was seen at Kendrick’s LA concert, vibing to the record-breaking diss track Not Like Us.

In his song, Make Them Remember, Drake addressed his feud with King James, as the lyrics read:

“I shouldn’t even be shocked to see you in that arena, because you always made your career off of switching teams up… Please stop asking what’s going on with 23 & me, I’m a real n**** and he’s not, it’s in my DNA.”

While several fans and other celebrities were shocked to see Drake dissing James, it seems natural, given the type of hype his beef with Kendrick has generated globally. Fans will await their favorite stars to address this publicly in the future.
