Coco Jones Sends Loving 4-Word Tribute to Donovan Mitchell Following Cavaliers’ Season Ending Loss

Donovan Mitchell is not in the best of mood this week as his Cleveland Cavaliers got swept by the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. Fortunately, his fiancée is there to try to uplift his spirits.

In an Instagram story posted on Tuesday, singer Coco Jones send a heartfelt tribute to Mitchell, who finished with 31 points on 50.0% shooting in the closeout game.

“Proud of you forever,” Jones wrote in the story’s caption.

Losing four straight games in the Eastern Conference Finals is a tough pill to swallow for Donovan Mitchell, who led the Cavs in scoring throughout their playoff run this year.

Though Mitchell averaged 27.3 ppg on 47.5% shooting from the field in the conference finals, the Cavs could not slow down his counterpart Jalen Brunson, who was eventually named Eastern Conference Finals MVP.

In the aftermath of the Cavs getting swept by the Knicks, speculations ran wild about the team triggering an overhaul as they reassess their identity. For what it’s worth, ESPN’s Shams Charania has reported that head coach Kenny Atkinson is being brought back for next season.

It will be a long summer for the Cavs to figure out how they will move forward in the short-term and long-term future. Interestingly, LeBron James is being linked once again to the team that drafted him 23 years ago. What that scenario would mean for Mitchell and his current running mate James Harden would be interesting to see.

“Stop the Speculation”: NBA Insider Reveals Conversation With Donovan Mitchell About Coming Back to Cavs Next Season

With the Cavs’ future in limbo, even Donovan Mitchell’s future with the team is being called into question. On Tuesday’s episode of “NBA Today,” insider Marc J. Spears shared a conversation that he’d had with Mitchell after the Cavs got swept.

“He’s like, stop the speculation. I want to come back. I want to work on getting that next deal.”

Mitchell is set to enter Year 2 of a three-year, $150.3 million deal; under this contract, the seven-time All-Star will be making $50.1 million in the 2026-27 season, after which he’ll have a player option.
