With two weeks left before the playoffs begin, the Charlotte Hornets are about to complete a dramatic in-season turnaround. In the early goings of the 2025-26 campaign, the Hornets were dead in the water, with the playoffs looking like a pie in the sky. But, in late January, the team started to gain significant momentum, pulling off length winning streaks that extended past the All-Star break.
In the month of March, the Hornets’ winning percentage remains impressive, going 10-5 in this span. Their longest winning streak in this month was a five-game stretch in which they defeated the East’s no. 3 team New York Knicks, along with two play-in teams in the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat.
Last week, however, the Hornets dropped both games of a back-to-back, suffering a 118-114 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers and getting blown out 114-99 by the Boston Celtics the night after.
Displaying resilience, this Charlotte squad bounced back with a three-game winning streak. More impressively, each of these victories has been one-sided. This past Tuesday, the Hornets routed the Brooklyn Nets 117-86, with Brandon Miller putting up 25 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field. Two days later, in the Hornets’ 127-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns, it was Miles Bridges (25 points, four rebounds, two assists) who led the way. Then, on Friday, Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel combined for 42 points to turn back the Indiana Pacers 129-108.
Charlotte Hornets Playoffs Picture: Updated Standings
After the Hornets’ latest victory over the Pacers, they now stand at 42-36. Occupying the no. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference, Charlotte now stands a game and a half behind the Toronto Raptors (43-34).
Charlotte Hornets Playoffs Picture: Remaining Schedule
The Hornets have four games left on their regular season schedule, and each of them is against a tough playoff contender: the Minnesota Timberwolves on Apr. 5, the Boston Celtics on Apr. 7, the Detroit Pistons on Apr. 10, and the New York Knicks on Apr. 12. The Hornets can tumble all the way down to the no. 10 spot in the play-in tournament, but there’s also a slim chance that they’ll secure the last outright playoff berth.
